  • Product Description
  • The cutting method of the bucket-wheel cutter is similar to that of the chain bucket dredge, combining the advantages of both chain buckets and cutter heads—it is a new type of excavation device.

The bucket-wheel excavating device primarily consists of key components such as a rotating bucket wheel, a roller-bearing-type drive shaft, steel mud-collecting buckets, and a suction pipe. The rotating bucket wheel is constructed by welding several steel, bottomless mud-collecting buckets together with two assembled rings, forming a single, robust unit. Along the edges of the bottomless buckets, detachable, wear-resistant cutting blades are installed for easy replacement once they become worn. The rotation direction of the bucket-wheel excavating device is longitudinal, driven by multiple low-speed, high-torque, radial piston-type hydraulic motors. Meanwhile, the stationary, non-rotating mud-collecting buckets are mounted inside the rotating bucket wheel; these are made from a steel-welded structure, and replaceable friction plates are added to areas prone to wear for enhanced durability.

The bucket-wheel excavation device operates by rotating the bucket wheel while excavating silt and sand from underwater soil layers. As the bottomless buckets reach the lower section, they begin scooping up the soil and sediment, loading it directly into the bucket itself. Once these bottomless buckets continue rotating upward to the upper position, the dredged silt and sand inside are discharged through an opening at the bottom of the bucket (since the bucket has no base), guided by a stationary scraper that forcefully pushes the material into a fixed receiving hopper located between two rotating rings. In this way, nearly all the silt and sand excavated and carried by each rotating bottomless bucket can be efficiently transferred into the stationary receiving hopper. Finally, the resulting mixture of sludge and water flows out of the receiving hopper, entering the suction inlet of the mud pump via the suction pipe, where it is ultimately drawn in for further processing.
